Who and what is behind Ikigai Audio?

The owner and developer Jeffrey Dam lives in the Netherlands. The company Ikigai Audio is set up like a small family business and only follows its own passion for manufacturing high-end cables that allow more proximity to the musicians without tiring them out. Ikigai comes from Japanese and means something like the reason for existence.

Why are Ikigai audio high-end cables not available at most retailers?

Because Jeffrey Dam personally assembles, measures and tests every cable by hand. Only a limited number can be produced. It is also about making special cables for real music lovers. Ikigai cables are not intended to correct the sound of a system. To understand this path, you don't need many, but special retailers.

Which conductor material is used for the cables?

The basis of the conductor material is pure silver and gold. Both metals are subjected to a special process in-house to achieve an almost perfect mono-crystalline structure of the material. Depending on the cable series, this process is intensified.

Which cable series are there and what is the difference?

There are the Sugure, Kangai and Kinzan series. The Sugure cables do not process gold, but the Kangai and Kinzan series signal cables do. In addition, the cross-sections and the structure of the cable vary for each series. The Kinzan series also features an extreme reduction in contact resistance. Here, the conductor is welded to the plug contacts and not “just” soldered. In the Kangai and Kinzan series, the shielding is grounded separately, which results in increased silence in the sound image.

Do you absolutely need such complex and expensive high-end cables?
