Kroma Atelier

Loudspeakers that go beyond the term “high-end” because Kroma Atelier focuses on musical accuracy.

Beyond high end Audio speakers

The high-end loudspeakers from Kroma Studios from Granada came to us by a happy coincidence. This Spanish music art manufacturer is more than worth taking a close look at.

The development of Kroma Atelier Lautsprecher has shown that it is very successful when the entire loudspeaker is not only equipped technically, with great chassis and selected component qualities, but is also tuned in terms of resonance technology. The Spanish guitar is probably the instrument with which the Spanish zest for life can be associated. Jumping, tempramental but also just as quiet and sensitive. Kroma speakers reflect these features when the music requires it. Whether it is spatial imaging, stage size, rough or fine dynamics, all these high-end terms are common here.

Kroma's slogan is “beyond high-end audio” and that's what hits the nail on the head. They are first-class high-end loudspeakers, but they cross a very important line. They do all the attributes they like to use in conjunction with the fine sense of music.

The housing is made of Krion. Krion is a material made from a non-conductive and non-magnetic material, which is characterized by its high mass and the absence of resonances, which does not cause any discolouration of sound. Elements made from various types of wood — which are used by renowned violin makers to build their musical instruments, for example — are handmade and placed at critical points with great sound impact. This is in no way about turning a loudspeaker into an “instrument” that adds its own signature to the music. It is more about playing music with harmonic overtone frequencies.

Through our own Subbase echo LS technology We can understand this procedure very well. No metal parts are used in the entire loudspeaker, neither in the housing nor in the filter, not even when mounting the drivers. The plastic chassis mounting screws are adjusted using a defined torque. The crossover only contains high-quality sound filter components, such as the brands Dülund and Mundorf, combined with very special NOS components. Nothing is left to chance here and you can hear it!

There are many high-end loudspeakers. What is special about Kroma Atelier?

Speakers from Kroma Atelier are so special because the developers focus on music and not on bringing a new product to market over and over again. A Kroma serves music and she does this by putting herself in the background and letting the music play its own language. The music listener has never lost the impression of tonal accuracy. Everything is for musical truth, the entire construction. Many other loudspeakers on the market strive to stand out from the crowd by making an impressive appearance, both visually and sonically. Something like that is absolutely alien to a Kroma.

What is so different about the construction?

The selection of the chassis, their modification and the design of the housing with its materials are coordinated precisely. The advice of the well-known Spanish guitar maker Paco Santiago Marin is used. The speaker housings are made of Krion and have no metal parts, the screws are also not made of metal and the plastic screws used are tightened from the house with a defined torque. Everything serves the harmony of music.

What is Krion and what is so special about it?

The material Krion is the development of the Spanish PORCELANOSA Group. Two thirds of the solid material consists of natural aluminum trihydrate and a small percentage of high-strength synthetic resins. It has high tensile and compressive strength and can easily be bent when heated. After cooling, it has the same homogeneous structure as before. It is anti-static, does not bleach and is an ideal choice for absorbing energy from sound. This makes it the ideal choice for building beautiful sound transducers.

Why are there three series — Classic, Signature and Reference?

This gives customers the opportunity to choose the right loudspeaker for their own needs according to size and design. The tonal tuning, i.e. the sound parameters, is the same for every loudspeaker. There are no taste-related statements such as, “... this box sounds like that and this one sounds like that...” The size of the cabinet is important for the volume and is used in larger rooms for a confident presentation.
